Hi there

Welcome to our first Forestry Exports Newsletter which has been produced especially for our timber and wood exporters.  A number of our clients have indicated that they see real value in receiving a regular update from our team, so finally here it is.  I hope you will find it a useful and informative read.

About this newsletter:  Our aim is to keep you up to date with any news, changes to the Biosecurity NZ regulations (and we have all seen a fair few of those over the last year) and Importing Country Phyto-sanitary Requirements (ICPR).  We'll also include comment from our technical team around what impact (if any) these changes will have on you and the countries you export to and the markets you sell into.

Enter a survey to win! Finally, our newsletter content and format is a work in progress; so please feel give us your feedback and comments, which will help guide the content of future newsletters.  We've included a quick survey at the bottom of this newsletter, please take a moment to participate, all respondents will be entered into a prize draw to win a dinner for two.

Best regards, Peter Webb, Chief Executive

Quality Assurance Programme for Timber Treatment

IVS has partnered with Hill Laboratories to produce a comprehensive Timber Preservation Quality Assurance Programme.

“The partnership between IVS and Hill Laboratories brings together two organisations of sound reputation. Their combined commitment to a fast turnaround time of accurate analytical results provides timber treatment companies not only an independent verification of their quality systems; but also the ability to fine tune their preservative treatment operations. This saves time, money, minimises wastage, without compromising on the quality and durability of their timber.”  Jeanette Drysdale, Wood Protection Consultant  read more >>

Phyto Ecert System Upgrade

A recent review undertaken by MAFBNZ has determined that the Phyto Ecert System is past its lifecycle, and no longer fit for purpose.

The existing system is now nine years old and is used not only by MAFBNZ and forestry exporters, but also freight forwarders and Independent Verification Agencies (IVAs).

The Phyto Ecert II Project is now underway and it is likely that the application will replace the existing system as early as February of next year.  project overview & update (PDF) >>
